You Look the Way I Feel

I believe unemployment has run it's course. I am no longer satisfied to sit around the house contemplating my next move -- its about time to make that next move. I'm having a sort of conflict about how to go about it though. You see, I've had a vacation planned for over two months now, just a weekend and a few extraneous days before it, an am wondering on how I should broach this.
My original plan, and I suppose the one I'm still operating under, had me landing a job and not starting until after I get back. I think asking for a vacation in one week upon getting hired would look kind of bad, so I'm thinking this would be the best way of going about it. That is of course, unless its not an option, in which case I'll just have to abandon my plans (fuck).
The picture of The Dude, from The Big Lebowski, probably conjures up images of me sitting around, drinking white russians and bowling, but such is not the case. While my drinking has increased (in regularity, not amount) by having a couple beers a day, I don't think I've even gotten drunk since the day I get laid off. And I haven't been bowling, but I have been playing my fair share of Jedi Knight II.
The little lady has been going to work more often in the last week, but still not with the regularity one would expect from the girlfriend of a recently laid off guy who plans to go on a vacation with her in the coming weeks. I also had to pay rent the week I was let go, I have a lunch planned with my mother for mother's day, and I still need insurance for my bike. Well, I hope that depressed you as thoroughly as it depresses me on a daily basis, but I digress.
Actually, that's about it for my current status in the world. Unemployed and not lovin' it. Most of the time I've been out of work before I've enjoyed it to a certain extent. I would suppose it was because up until now, not all of my friends worked nine to fivers on weekdays so I at least had someone to kill time with if I so chose. Well, its about time I got back to procrastinating about calling people for jobs. Have fun kiddies, and work and extra shift, just for me.
